BCCI approves two new teams from IPL 2022 edition

In its Annual General Meeting held in Ahmedabad on Thursday, the BCCI has finally approved the addition of two new IPL teams. The Governing Council was asked to present the extreme details of the plan.

However, the two new IPL teams will be added in the 2022 edition making it a 10-team affair while the 2021 edition will go ahead with 8 teams only. The three-member Governing Council, comprising chairman Brijesh Patel, Khairul Jamal Majumdar, and Pragyan Ojha have been asked to start the process.

“Two new teams will be introduced in the 2022 IPL” a Board source told PTI.

In other news, the BCCI has decided to lend full support to ICC’s bid for the inclusion of T20 cricket in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics “after getting some clarifications from the International Olympic Committee”.
