The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has launched an emotive film, titled The Weight, to mark the end of an exceptional cricket season.

The short film, created by the ECB with support from Sky Sports and narrated by former England player Mark Butcher, draws to a close this exceptional season as cricket enters a new chapter, carrying with it the weight of all the sport has gained, learned and sadly lost this year.

This follows the film the ECB launched at the start of the season, The Wait, narrated by Stephen Fry, which captured the spirit of the cricket community and celebrated how society came together during the COVID crisis.

The two-and-a-half-minute film highlights the disruption of the season by the COVID-19 pandemic and re-emergence of the game from the threat of the virus that has taken over 200 countries across the globe under its grasp.

England has been the first country to resume international cricket amidst the Sars Cov-2 spread, successfully hosting the West Indies, Pakistan and Australia. The ECB in the process has also given the cricket-playing countries a template to create the bio-secure bubble to ensure safe zones for players and officials for matches and tournaments.

The ongoing Indian Premier League Season 13 in the UAE is also being played in a bio-secure bubble.
