Ganguly reveals home series, Pink Ball Test venues against England

The Board of Control for Cricket in India president Sourav Ganguly has revealed the Pink Ball Test venue and location for the Test and while ball games for the upcoming “home series” against England.

India will host England for a full series involving five Tests and the while ball series between January and March.

India’s proposed “home series” will start shortly after the upcoming tour of Australia. However, the prevailing COVID-19 situation raised doubts about the series to be played in India. The UAE was being seen as an alternate venue to host the ECB tour party.

Ganguly has laid to rest all speculation and doubts. The BCCI president has confirmed that the series will be play in India. Ahmedabad will host the day-night Pink Ball Test.

“Ahmedabad will hold the day-night Test,” Ganguly said at the Kolkata Press Club at the launch of the book by CPI (M) MLA Ashok Bhattacharya.

The BCCI has started exploring options, including creating bio-secure bubbles, to make the series happen in India.

Ahmedabad, Dharamsala and Kolkata are likely to be the three venues for the Test series. A final call has not been taken yet, Ganguly said.

“We have made some tentative plans but nothing has been decided as of now. We still have four months’ time,” said Ganguly.

The decisions will be made after preparation for India’s tour of Australia are completed.

“Before England, we have Australia series coming up. There will be team selection happening in a few days,” said the former India captain.

Ganguly also said that the details for the domestic cricket will be workd out at the BCCI Annual General Meeting. The board is planning to start the Ranji Trophy competition from January 1.

“The AGM will happen soon and there we will decide about the Ranji Trophy,” said Ganguly.
