IPL 2020: Ishant Sharma ruled out for remaining season

Delhi Capitals’ pace spearhead Ishant Sharma has been ruled out of the remaining Indian Premier League 2020 season with a muscle tear.

Ishant initially experienced pain on his rib cage and it was later revealed that he has sustained a muscle tear.

Delhi Capitals have confirmed today (Monday) that Ishant has been ruled out of the ongoing IPL.

“Ishant Sharma experienced an acute episode of left rib cage pain while bowling at a team training session on 7 October 2020 in Dubai,” the franchise said in a statement. “Subsequent investigations revealed that he sustained a left internal oblique muscle tear. ”

The injury forced Ishant to play just a solitary game this season, in which he went wicketless against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

This is the second major blow the to Delhi Capitals’ attack. Earlier, veteran leg spinner Amit Mishra was forced out of the entire season due to a hand injury.
