Earlier, the 27-year-old cricketer had checked into a Mumbai hotel on March 28 with a negative COVID-19 test however, his second test result was positive.
Axar was later isolated at a designated medical care facility.
Significantly, Axar was one of the key members of the DC side, which had reached the final of IPL 2020. Although he managed just nine wickets from 15 matches last season, his economy rate of 6.41 runs per over had impressed everyone.
Overall, Axar has 80 wickets from 97 IPL matches.
