Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli has been reprimanded for breaching the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) Code of Conduct during his side’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Wednesday night.
“Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli has been reprimanded for breaching the VIVO Indian Premier League’s (IPL) Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai,” a statement from IPL said.
“Mr Kohli admitted to the Level 1 offence 2.2 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding,” it added.
Significantly in the match against SRH, Kohli, who was upset after being dismissed for 33 off 29 balls, showed his frustration on a chair in the RCB dugout.
After reaching his team’s dugout, Kohli hit a chair with his bat as his other RCB teammates looked on and a video of the incident also went viral on various social media platforms.
In the thrilling contest, RCB registered a six-run victory over the David Warner-led side.
