In another terrible news for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), former India stumper and current Mumbai Indians’ wicket keeping consultant Kiran More on Tuesday tested positive for Covid-19.

The franchise confirmed the news on its official Twitter handle and said that More is “currently asymptomatic and has been isolated”.

“Mumbai Indians’ scout and wicket keeping consultant Mr. Kiran More has tested positive for Covid-19,” tweeted Mumbai Indians.

“Mr. More is currently asymptomatic and has been isolated. Mumbai Indians and Kiran More have followed all the BCCI health guidelines. The MI medical team will continue to monitor Mr. More’s health and abide by the BCCI protocols,” it added.

MI further urged the fans to take all the precautionary measures saying: “We would like to remind our fans to be safe and follow COVID-19 appropriate behaviours in these difficult times.”

Earlier in the day, two more ground-staffs and a plumber at Mumbai’s Wankhede stadium, which will host 10 matches this season, had reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.

The Wankhede is due to host its first game of the 14th IPL season on 10 April, which will see three-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) taking on Delhi Capitals.

Earlier last Saturday, several ground-staff members of the Wankhede had tested positive for Covid-19 however, now most of them have recovered.

Among the players, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Devdutt Padikkal, Delhi Capitals’ Axar Patel and KKR’s Nitish Rana are the three to have returned positive for Covid-19.

However, Rana has now recovered and has started training along with his KKR squad while Padikkal returned negative in his latest test, which was conducted on Monday.
