IPL 2021: Will help anyone battling Covid-19 within my capacity, promises Ashwin

Ace India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is deeply disheartened on the deaths and destruction caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and has said that he will do whatever he can in his capacity to help those battling the virus.

Ashwin said it is heartbreaking to see people’s sufferings in the wake of a deadly second wave of the Coronavirus.

“Heart breaking to see what’s happening around my country! I am not in the healthcare fraternity, but my sincere gratitude to each of them. I would also like to make an earnest appeal to every Indian to exercise caution and stay safe,” Ashwin tweeted.

Meanwhile, the off-spinner, who is representing the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), also expressed that the virus does not spare anyone.

“I know there will be people who will retort with a tweet about my position of privilege. I would like to reiterate that this is a virus that spares no one and I am in this fight with all of you. Let me know if I can help and i promise to help anyone that is within my capacity,” he added.

Earlier, Ashiwn had requested everyone to stay indoors and take necessary precautions amid the raging pandemic.

Significantly, India had recorded over 3.32 lakh new coronavirus cases in a single day taking the country’s tally to 1,62,63,695, while active cases crossed the 24-lakh mark, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Friday.
