Luke Kang Elected As President, Walt Disney Company APAC

Following the exit of Uday Shankar, The Walt Disney Company may be headed by two different individuals for its APAC and India operations, said an official announcement from the company. As far as Asia Pacific is concerned, Luke Kang has been appointed president of The Walt Disney Company, who will report to Rebecca Campbell, Chairman, International Operations and Direct-to-Consumer.

Speaking about Uday Shankar, Campbell wrote “As previously announced, Uday Shankar will be leaving us at the end of the month to pursue a new endeavour that will focus on supporting and mentoring a new generation of entrepreneurs. I know you all join me in thanking him for his incredible contributions to the industry, Star and The Walt Disney Company – and wish him all the best.”

Kang will now steer the company’s business in Australia/New Zealand, Greater China, Japan, Korea and Southeast Asia.

Campbell also announced that the India Head will be elected in early 2021. K Madhavan, Head of Star and Sunil Ryan, Head of Disney+ Hotstar India will report to her in the interim.
