Asia Cup 2022 scheduled announced; India to face Pakistan on Aug 28

Team India will begin their Asia Cup 2022 campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on August 28 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, it was announced on Tuesday.

As per the schedule announced, Sri Lanka will be taking on Afghanistan in the tournament opener on Saturday, August 27 in Dubai. This will be followed by India vs Pakistan the following day, also at the Dubai International Stadium.

The schedule was shared by Asian Cricket Council chief Jay Shah on Twitter.

Ten out of the thirteen games including the final will be played in Dubai, with the rest of the matches will be staged in Sharjah.

India, Pakistan and a qualifier have been placed be in Group A while hosts Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are in Group B. The top-two teams from each group will further play in a ‘Super 4’ round, meaning there is a high probability of at least another India – Pakistan game in the second round.

Notably, the tournament was originally scheduled to be played in Sri Lanka however, it was later shifted to the UAE recently due to the political crisis prevaling in the island nation.
