Australia’s IPL contingent likley to land in Sydney soon, BCCI to foot bill

The Australian cricket contingent, comprising of players, support staffs and commentators which was part of the now postponed Indian Premier League (IPL), will return their home within a day or two and will quarantine in Sydney with the BCCI expected to foot the bill for travel and quarantine.

Earlier, Australia had announced that the flights to repatriate Australian citizens stranded in India will start from May 15 and the first flight carrying the Aussie citizens reached Darwin on Saturday.

The Australian contingent are still in Maldives and are likley to return late on Saturday or Sunday.

According to a report in the Sydney Morning Herald, ‘the Indian cricket authorities will foot the bill of the returning Aussies who are likely to quarantine in Sydney’.

Significantly, 38 Australians had to quarantine in Maldives after leaving India following the postponement of the Indian Premier League’s 14th edition as Covid-19 had breached the tournament’s secured bio-bubble in the second leg.
