Bumrah set to miss Nepal game, flies back to India for personal reasons

Ace India’s pacer Jasprit Bumrah has returned to India and will now miss the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 match against Nepal, scheduled at Pallekele in Sri Lanka today.

Meanwhile, the BCCI has not revealed anything officially on this matter till now however, several reports over social media claim that Bumrah is returning home for a few days.

Althoughy there hasn’t been any official announcement, reports further suggest that Bumrah and his wife Sanjana Ganesan, a popular TV presenter, are all set to welcome their first child due to which the ace pacer returned home.

However, Bumrah, 29, will be available for the Group 4 stage matches.

In his absence, Mohammad Shami is most likely to replace him in the playing XI for the match against Nepal.

Bumrah didn’t got a chance to bowl in the opening game against Pakistan as no play was possible due to continous rain after India’s batting.

Notably, Bumrah returned to action after a long injury lay-off in the three T20Is vs Ireland and as a skipper, he registered impressive performances with the ball.

Against Ireland, Bumrah registered figures of 2/24 in the opening game and another probing spell of 2/15 in the next game while the third match of the series was washed out.

After the Ireland series, Bumrah joined Team India’s preparatory camp for the Asia Cup in Alur near Bangalore and participated in various types of practise sessions.
