Dark clouds loom over PSL 6 remainder as PCB still awaits for official confirmation

Although the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had reportedly received a green signal from the UAE authorities to hold the remaining matches of the sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), the board is still awaiting an official confirmation from the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) as various factors would have possibly led to the delay in taking a final call.

Notably, the broadcasting staff responsible for the live coverage of the PSL matches is also facing difficulty in gaining entry into the UAE as most of them comprises from either South African or India and at present, people from the latter country are barred from entering the Emirates.

Also, the PCB officials were not sure whether these staff will travel with the teams on the special flights and questions regarding their quarentine period also remains undecided.

Meanwhile, it was also not clear whether the remianing games of the PSL will be played in Dubai or Abu Dhabi.

Few days back, several reports surfaced saying that the PCB has opened talks with the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) to hold the remaining matches of the PSL 6 in the UAE in June. Later, the PCB had also confirmed on that it had initiated discussions with the ECB regarding the logistics of the move.

However, uncertainties over the plan started when the Gulf nation decided to bar entry to non-UAE resident travellers from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal and Sri Lanka starting. The move was significantly, aimed to contain the spread of the coronavirus in UAE.

Earlier, the sixth edition of the PSL was postponed in March as many players and support staff have tested positive for Covid-19 and just 14 matches of the tournament had been played.
