Jasprit Bumrah back at No.1 spot in ICC ODI rankings for bowlers

India’s pace sensation Jasprit Bumrah on Wednesday regained the top spot in the ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings for bowlers after a career-best figures of 6/19 against England on Tuesday.

Bumrah’s sensational bowling helped India hammer England by 10-wicket in the first ODI of the three-match series at The Kennington Oval on Tuesday.

Earlier, Bumrah had lost the top spot to New Zealand’s Trent Boult in February 2020 after being No. 1 for most of the preceding two years.

After the latest update, Boult lies at the second place with Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi (third), Australia seamer Josh Hazelwood (fourth) and Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman (fifth) rounding out the top five.

In the ICC rankings for Test bowlers, Bumrah is ranked third behind Australia’s Pat Cummins and his teammate Ravichandran Ashwin.

Meanwhile, Bumrah’s new-ball partner Mohammad Shami also returned with impressive figures of 3/31 which helped the Rohit Sharma-led side bundle out England in just 25.2 overs.

Shami too, made a progressed of three spots in the rankings to reach joint-23rd position along with team-mate Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

In the batting charts, skipper Rohit Sharma, who top-scored for India on Tuesday with an unbeaten 76, still remains in fourth place on the rankings for batters.
