Kohli a ton away from surpassing Ponting, creating massive world record

India skipper and run-machine Virat Kohli is a ton away from achieving another milestone in his fantastic career as he is on the verge of surpassing former Australia captain Ricky Ponting as the captain with most international hundreds.

Kohli, who has 28th Test hundred to his name, will be returning to the cricket field following the paternity leave he had taken after the first Test against Australia in Adelaide.

If the India skipper gets a ton in the first Test, which would be his 42nd international ton as captain, it would be the highest by any captain in the world.

Currently, both Ponting and Kohli are tied at the top position in the list with 41 centuries to their name.

The first two Test matches of the series will be played in Chennai while the last two affairs will be held in Ahmedabad.

Significantly, this is the first series that is being played in India since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic last year.
