Kohli equals Dhoni’s captaincy record in fourth Test at Motera

India skipper Virat Kohli on Thursday equalled former captain MS Dhoni’s record of leading India in most Test matches.

Kohli achieved the feat when he stepped out for toss in the ongoing fourth and final Test of the series against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera.

Significantly, it was his 60th Test appearence as the skipper of India.

Kohli is already India’s most successful Test captain with 35 Test wins from 59 matches while Dhoni is next on the list with 27 from 60. Sourav Ganguly stands third with 21 wins while Mohammad Azharuddin sits at the fourth place with 14 wins.

Earlier, the India skipper had surpassed Dhoni with his 22nd Test win on home soil when India outclassed England by 10 wickets in the third Test last week.

The victory took Kohli’s tally to 22 from 29 Tests in India while Dhoni had 21 victories on home soil from 30 Tests.
