New Cricket Advisory Committee to be picked by the BCCI

The BCCI is set to form a new Cricket Advisory Committee on Thursday when it sits down for its Annual General Meeting in Ahmedabad. The CAC will go ahead and pick three national selectors before India takes on England at home.

The current committee is headed by Madan Lal with R. P. Singh and Sulakshana Naik as the other two members. Sunil Joshi and Harvinder Singh were appointed by the three-member committee as national selectors in early 2020. However, according to Sportstar, a new committee will be formed to take charge and conduct the interviews.

The first or second week of January could see the interview process take place according to a couple of board officials. It will be carried out before the England series which is scheduled to be played in February and March.

Some of the names who have applied for the vacant positions are Ajit Agarkar, Abey Kuruvilla, Maninder Singh and Chetan Sharma. Agarkar is the most prominent name among them with more than 200 international matches under his belt.

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly had stated that the zonal system will be ditched while picking the selection committee. However, the Madan Lal led committee had replaced M. S. K. Prasad (south zone) with Joshi, while Gagan Khoda (central zone) was replaced by Harvinder. Therefore, it is most likely that the zonal system will be taken up this time also.
