PCB files complaint with ICC over ‘inappropriate conduct’ during Indo-Pak World Cup match

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has lodged an official complaint to the ICC about ‘inappropriate conduct’ towards its players during the highly-anticipated clash against India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 14.

In the high-octance clash of the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup 2023, the affair turned out a one-sided affair as hosts India thrashed Pakistan by 7 wickets.

Now, the PCB has filed an official complaint to the global body alleging inappropriate conduct aimed at Babar Azam’s boys during the clash as they were booed by the fans at the venue. Moreover, the PCB have also lodged a complaint against the BCCI over the delay of visas to Pakistan journalists and the ‘absence’ of visa policy for its fans.

“The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has lodged another formal protest with the ICC over delays in visas for Pakistani journalists and the absence of a visa policy for Pakistan fans for the ongoing World Cup 2023,” read a statement from PCB media.

”The PCB has also filed a complaint regarding inappropriate conduct targeted at the Pakistan squad during the India vs Pakistan match held on 14 October 2023,” it informed further.

Notably, the Men In Blue came all gun blazing against Pakistan, making it 8-0 against their arch-rivals in the history of the ODI World Cup.

Pakistan captain Babar scored a fifty while Mohammad Rizwan scored 49 runs however, both players were allegedly targetted by fans at the iconic venue following which the PCB took the matter to ICC.

Earlier just after the clash, Pakistan’s team director Mickey Arthur had complained about the ongoing World Cup game feeling like a ‘BCCI event’ rather than an ICC event.

Pakistan will now be up against Australia on Friday (October 20) and aim to return to winning ways at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

As per several reports, few players in the Pakistan camp are battling illness and it remains to be seen what changes Babar makes in their next game.
