Players complete isolation period; to begin their Australian open preparations soon

After completing the Covid-19 protocol rules, the Australian Open tennis players have now finally begun to leave their hotel quarantine and are all set to to kick-off their preparations for the mega event.

The players have now completed their 14-day isolation, as asked by the Australian government. Significantly, Australian open 2021 is scheduled to start on February 8.

According to statements issued by the organisers, about 500 players will have been released from hotels in Melbourne and Adelaide.

The players includes high-profile tennis stars like Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams.

Earlier this month, more than 1,700 players, staff and others tied to the Grand Slam were flown into Australia on chartered flights.

Due to the restrictions, players were allowed out of their rooms for five hours a day to practice on court and exercise.

The quarantine policy had however, drawn criticism from several players, who had said that it would impact their preparation for the first Grand Slam of the year.

As the players were forced to remain in their hotel rooms, US tennis player Tennys Sandgren took to social media and said: “It’s also another day we can’t practice.”

He further said he would have just three days to practice outside the room before playing a competitive match.
