PSL 2021 remainder to be held in June in Karachi

The 2021 season of the Pakistan Super League, which was postpopned due to spike in Covid-19 cases among players and support staff, will resume once again in June.

The PCB and the franchises held a virtual meeting where all the parties agreed to restart the season in Karachi in two and a half months’ time.

Significantly, the sixth edition of PSL was postponed after a meeting between the organising committee and the team owners and management on March 4.

The decision was made after seven cases were reported in the competition, where just 14 games could be completed in the 34-match tournament.

Earlier, the board had also decided to outsource Bio-secure experts for the remainder of the tournament.

Even though the tournament was being organised in a bio-secured bubble, as many as seven players, who featured in the league, had tested positive for Covid-19.

Later, the PCB on March 4 was forced to postpone the season.

The announcement however, drew criticism from various franchises, who held the PCB responsible for poorly managing the bio-secure bubble.
