Pakistan and Quetta Gladiators pacer bowler Naseem Shah has been recalled for the remainder of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has now allowed him to enter team hotel here.
Shah, 18, was on Monday expelled from PSL 2021 remainder after he had breached Covid-19 protocols before flying to Abu Dhabi, which is scheduled to host the remaining games of the t20 TOURNAMENT.
Shah had arrived the designated hotel with a non-compliant RT-PCR test result, will return to isolation in the hotel before flying to Abu Dhabi to join his team Quetta Gladiators in PSL.
“After a meeting between the PCB and the PSL franchises, there has indeed been a compromise with Shah offered a way back to the PSL. All he has to do is clear a pre-isolation Covid-19 test, which will allow him to re-enter the team hotel, and then return back-to-back negative tests, which will give him the green light to board the flight to Abu Dhabi,” said a report in espncricinfo.com.
Shah will now fly to Abu Dhabi along with contingent that was left behind by first flights that carried 202 personnel on Thursday, the report added.
Earlier, Babar Hamid, Director — Commercial and head of PSL 6 in an official statement had said: “The PCB does not take any pride in releasing a young fast bowler from its marquee event but if we will ignore this breach, then we will potentially put at risk the entire event. We appreciate Quetta Gladiators for accepting this decision as it confirms we are all aligned to strictly following and implementing the protocols.”
