Rashid Khan rises to No. 2 in T20I bowling charts

Ace Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan has risen to No.2 spot in the men’s T20I bowling charts after his superb spell of 3/22 in the Asia Cup Group B match against Bangladesh.

Rashid and Mujeeb Ur Rahman’s 3/16 helped Afghanistan crush Bangladesh by seven wickets in group encounter in Dubai on Tuesday night to register their second win of the ongoing tournament.

Earlier, Afghanistan had defeated Sri Lanka in the opening game of the Asia Cup.

Meanwhile, Rashid also surpassed New Zealand pacer Tim Southee to become the second-highest wicket-taker in men’s T20Is during the win over Bangladesh. Rashid, who had started the match with 112 scalps in the format, picked up the wickets of Mushfiqur Rahim, Afif Hossain and Mahmudullah, to go to 115 wickets, according to ICC.

Southee was second in the wicket-takers’ list with 114 wickets before the match while Bangladesh Shakib Al Hasan holds on to his numero uno spot with 122 wickets.

Sri Lanka’s Lasith Malinga, New Zealand’s Ish Sodhi and Shahid Afridi of Pakistan are at the fourth, fifth and spot respectively with 107, 99, 98 wickets respectively.

On Tuesday Rashid and Mujeeb helped Afghanistan restrict Bangladesh to a moderate 127/7 in the allotted 20 overs. Later, Ibrahim Zadran’s unbeaten 42 and Najibullah Zadran’s unbeaten 43 saw Afghanistan crossing the line in 18.3 overs to register their second win the trot.
