Samson, 5 others fail to clear BCCI’s 2-km run fitness test

Six Indian cricketers — Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Rahul Tewatia, Nitish Rana, Siddarth Kaul and Jaydev Unadkat have reportedly failed to clear a fitness test introduced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Significantly, the BCCI had introduced a new 2km fitness test for the players this year to improve their fitness and also keeping in view the upcmoing limited-overs series against England.

The test was conducted at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore.

Despite their failure, these players who couldn’t pass the test will be getting another chance to clear it.

However, if they couldn’t pass the test second time, their participation in the upcoming ODIs and T20Is against England would be doubtful.

According to sources, Team India skipper Virat Kohli and head coach Ravi Shastri are keen to make the 2 km test mandatory for all the players like the Yo-Yo test.
