Unavailibility of windows in 2021 likley to force PCB to hold PSL 6 remainder in Jan 2022

Although the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is still to make an official announcement on the remainder of the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) sixth edition’s remiander, it has been learnt that the season has once again been postponed and now the remaining games are reportedly going to be held in in January, 2022.

Earlier in the first week of March, the PSL 6 was postponed as multiple Covid-19 cases, among players and support staff, surface.

The PCB later decided to hold the remiander of the league in Karachi in June but, due to worsening Covid-19 situation in Pakistan, the franchises requested the board to shift the matches to UAE.

Althought, the Abu Dhabi government gave a green signal for the event in UAE but with a condition that each and everyone involved in the league should have been vaccinated against Covid-19. The condition came as a major challenge before the PCB as these people belonged to several different nations where the vaccination process is still in different stages of being rolled out.

Now, the decision about postponement of PSL 6 is likely to be made later on Thursday.

In Wednesday’s between PCB and PSL franchises, the idea of organising the remaining games in January, next year, surfaced. However, in such a scenario, the seventh edition, which will start in February, would be delayed.

Also, the PCB has said that as there were no other windows available, this year, due to Pakistan team’s international commitments, any idea of holding the league this year looks impossible.

In such a scenario, it looks the PCB will have no other option other than to hold the PSL 6 remainder in January, 2022.
