Yuvraj, Gibbs congratulate Pollard on joining six sixes club

Former cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Herschelle Gibbs have congratulated West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard, who slammed six sixes in an over on Wednesday.

Pollard has now become the only second player in the history of T20Is and third overall to slam six sixes in an over in international cricket. He achieved the feat during the first T20I against Sri Lanka in Antigua, which the hosts won by four wickets.

Pollard had hit the sixes off an Akila Dananjaya over.

“Welcome to the club @KieronPollard55 #sixsixes you beauty !!!” Yuvraj tweeted on Thursday.

On the other hand, Gibbs said that the three batsmen, who have achieved the feat in international cricket, have all featured for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL).

“1.2.3 @mumbaiindians representing first 3 to hit 6x6s in international cricket. Welcome @kieron.pollard55 Fisted hand #6×6 #goinggoinggone #yuvrajsingh #kieronpollard #mumbaiindians,” Gibbs tweeted.

“March a popular month for hitting 6x6s 16/3/2007 and 3/3/2021 congrats @KieronPollard55,” he added.

Before Pollard, Yuvraj was the only cricketer in T20Is to slam six sixes.

Yuvraj had achieved the feat during a group match of the 2007 T20 World Cup in 2007. The left-hander had slammed England pacer Stuart Broad for 36 runs.

Before Pollard and Yuvraj, South Africa’s Herschelle Gibbs was the first cricketer to achieve the feat when he scored 36 runs in an over against Netherlands in the 2007 50-over World Cup in West Indies.
