Lahore likely to host remainder of PSL 6

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to announce Lahore as the possible venue for the remainder of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) fixtures after the sixth edition faced an abrupt stoppage due to surge in COVID-19 cases.

While Karachi was initially selected as a possible venue, however five out of the six franchises are understood to have favoured Lahore.

Meanwhile, the board is also weighing up three slots for the remainder of PSL 6 – one previous to the IPL, second in June and third in September. The PCB is likely to announce the new developments in three days’ time.

Earlier, the sixth edition of PSL had been postponed after a meeting between the organising committee and the team owners and management on March 4.

The decision was made after seven cases were reported in the competition, where just 14 games could be completed in the 34-match tournament.

The PCB is likely to announce the revised schedule in the next three days.

Earlier, the board had also decided to outsource Bio-secure experts for the remainder of the tournament.

Even though the tournament was being organised in a bio-secured bubble, as many as seven players, who featured in the league, had tested positive for Covid-19.

Later, the PCB on March 4 was forced to postpone the season.

The announcement however, drew criticism from various franchises, who held the PCB responsible for poorly managing the bio-secure bubble.
