Lego executive Lara Silberbauer appointed as global head of brand & marketing by IOC

Former Lego executive Lara Silberbauer has been appointed as the global head of brand, marketing, and digital by the International Olympic Committee.

Silberbauer’s time at the toy company lasted for almost 8 years from 2011 to 2018. In his last two years at Lego, he was promoted to senior global director of digital. He joined Viacom in late 2018.

Before joining Lego, Silberbauer was the head of social media and digital innovation at the Danish Broadcasting Corporation.

Christopher Carroll was appointed as director, marketing and digital engagement by the IOC last October. Carroll has formerly worked as EMEA senior marketing director at Under Armour.

The Tokyo summer Olympics were originally scheduled to take place this year. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the event has been postponed to next year but will still be called Tokyo 2020.

The Olympic Games will now take place from 23 July to 8 August 2021, and the Paralympic Games from 24 August to 5 September 2021.
