NRAI set to sign sponsorship deal with online gaming company

The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) is in talks with an online gaming company to crack a million-dollar sponsorship deal. The deal is believed to be in the advanced stages and will be announced once the legal committee and the athlete committee give a green light to the contract that has been tabled.

The sponsorship deal will be $1 million a year for at least two Olympics cycles between the NRAI top brass and the online company and the discussions are going on for over three months now.

NRAI wants to announce this big partnership before the ISSF World Cup to be held in New Delhi from March 18.

While NRAI’s sponsorship may not be the biggest sponsorship deals for non-cricketing sport in India on the lines of VIVO’s Rs 300 crore deal for the Pro-Kabaddi League, it will go a long way in breaking their dependency on funds handed over by the Sports Ministry.

“Yes we are very close to coming to an agreement. The contract is presently being vetted and I am hopeful that we will be able to announce the sponsorship very soon,” NRAI president Raninder Singh told The Tribune.

“We can’t disclose the name of the sponsor for procedural issues as of today but once all the paperwork and formalities are done we will announce the partnership in a proper way,” he added.
