Rematch order vs Wilder raises doubt over Fury-Joshua bout on Aug 14

The much awaited bout featuring Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua on August 14 in Saudi Arabia seems to be under threat as due to a ruling by an arbitrator, ‘The Gypsy King’ must fight former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder by September 15.

Deontay Wilder’s camp has been adamant about a trilogy fight against Fury but due to lockdown restrictions, the bout was forced to be postponed and as a result, the Irsih lost interest in the Wilder matchup.

On Monday, a former federal judge granted Wilder an injunction that mandates Fury to fight ‘The Bronze Bomber’ by September 15.

As per reports, Fury will either have to adhere to the ruling or negotiate with Wilder to wait on the sidelines for a huge amount of fee.

Significantly, the Irish heavyweight had stopped Wilder in seven rounds in February 2020 to become WBC world heavyweight champion.

Later, a third fight was scheduled for 2020 but the pandemic delayed the bout along with an injury to Wilder, which forced Fury to focus on the bout against Joshua.
