Russia banned from using their flag and national anthem at next two Olympics

Russia will not be able to use its flag and national anthem at the next two Olympics or at any world championships for the next two years. The country will also not be able to host any major sporting event for two years after the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s ruling banned them from doing so.

However, if not found guilty of any doping scandal or covering up positive tests, Russian athletes and teams will still be allowed to take part in next year’s Tokyo Olympics and the 2022 Winter Games in Beijing, as well as world championships including the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The World Anti-Doping Agency had proposed a four-year ban but it has now been cut down to half.

The Russians were held responsible for accusations that Russian state authorities meddled with a Moscow testing laboratory database before handing it over to WADA investigators last year.
