Gautam Thakkar quits Star Sports; Sanjog Gupta to take charge

Star Sports President and Chief Executive Gautam Thakkar has quit The Walt Disney Company-owned sports media network.

Thakkar is the second top executive to step down from the company. Star India and Disney India chairman and The Walt Disney Company Asia Pacific President Uday Shankar had stepped won on Thursday last.

Star TV Network Executive Vice President Sanjog Gupta will take the charge of the Sports Network.

Though Star India has not made a former announcement about Thakkar’s resignation, a section of media has confirmed the development with reference to sources.

An MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow and a Bachelor’s in Commerce from Sydenham College, Mumbai, Thakar stayed at Star Sports for two years. He had joined India’s leading sports broadcast network in 2018.

In an administrative career spanning over two decades, Thakkar has worked in Asia, Europe and the USA across different sectors.
